In the summer of 2022, I started "From the Hort" in grad school during a time period when I was really lacking motivation to finish at that time. I was lacking motivation and a lot of the motivational quotes I saw didn't speak to me in an authentic manner so I decided to create what I felt was missing. While creating genuine and authentic messages, I knew I was speaking to a person who is:
- Stubborn enough to not allow someone to tell them what can or cannot be done.
- Willing to ride out the storm while everyone else is trying to dodge the rain.
- First-generation and trying to navigate that journey without a blueprint.
When I thought about those three, a maverick was the first word that came to mind, which is why our brand slogan is "Keeping Mavericks Encouraged!".
In the midst of building up the platform with those messages, I kept being asked by supporters of "From the Hort" when I’d put those messages on some kind of product. Rather than allow that message to stop at my ears, I took the initiative to create products that people can use and keep with them throughout their day to keep them encouraged.
No matter your path "From the Hort" is here along your journey to ride out the storm with you and we brought our rain coat too.
